Nursing Program Celebrates
First Capping and Pinning Ceremonies
For the very first time, the Nursing Program of St. Paul College
of Ilocos Sur celebrated its first Capping and Pinning Ceremonies
to twenty (20) pioneer nursing students at the famous St. Paul
Metropolitan Cathedral in Vigan City last July 02, 2005.
“We have a lot of firsts!” says
Mr. Rene Z. Seguritan Jr. the Class President of Les Anges de
Paulie-Maries Class of
2007. We were the first to wear the base uniform, the community
uniform, the operating room and delivery room gown, and the first
to use the Nursing Arts Laboratories.
“I will never forget this day, the day where I first wore
this nursing caps.” Countered Ms. Teresita Fe Buen, one of
the pioneer nursing students. “I am going to wear this until
tonight to savor the moment.” She continued.
Dr. Glenn A. Guira, the Program Coordinator
of the Nursing Program was very happy for the success of the
event. He stressed during
his introductory remarks regarding the significance of the Capping
Ceremonies in that the Nurses’ Cap is a symbol of trust,
purity and honor. That by far the Cap is God's new snow, for within
its folds are treasures dearly bought by those who walked the halls
of pain throughout the years until now. Furthermore, he said during
his speech that, “These candidates will possess these treasures
just as largely as they give themselves to the study and care of
the sick. They will enjoy the beauty of this service as largely
as they enter into it in spirit, working always to attain to the
best, keeping firm to duty and being kind.”
The Directress for herself said during her welcome address that
this batch of student nurses started as a group eighty (80) where
they were trimmed to only twenty (20) students in the Level III
that shows how strict St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur in screening
its students. She therefore encouraged them to make their parents
proud and continue to work for the good of those who need health
care services.
On behalf of the parents, Mrs. Rosario A. Lazo thanked the administration
of St. Paul College of Ilocos in molding their children into a
professional, competent and responsible nursing students. She thanked
also the faculty members in their sacrifice to make their children
truly a caring and compassionate nurse.
